Kick-off
events successfully launch IndianaNEXT!
Almost
1000 principals
and superintendents have attended the eight IndianaNEXT Kick-off
conferences
from June, 2001 to July, 2003.
The 2-day event provides valuable experiences designed
to assist administrators in the utilization of technology
for school improvement back in their schools and corporations.
Administrators
explored the possibilities technology brings to schools:
through online research, special presentations, and sharing
with colleagues. They developed ideas for their Goal Action
Plans (GAP) which they will complete during the school
year--accessing resources, workshops, and online activities,
as needed. Once the GAP is submitted, a $1500 grant provides
funding to accomplish the specific goals identified in
the GAP to support school improvement. Through e-mail and
the class web site, cohorts from around the state will
exchange ideas and provide encouragement throughout the
program year.
Additional Kick-off conferences are scheduled for March
9-10 and June 28-29,
2004, in Indianapolis. Click

Comments
from Principals and Superintendents about the IndianaNEXT
Kick-off Sessions:
Great
planning, great technical support
There was something
going on all the time. GREAT!
This
is one of the best programs ever put on by the state.
Dont
pass it up!
Great
collaboration with fellow administrators.
Lots
of practical resources for PL 221!
Hands-on
research with the lap-tops was very beneficial.
I
have the ability to use technology for school improvement
and Im no longer afraid to try it.
[It
showed me] how to use technology to increase communication
with all segments of the school population.
"The
Goal Action Plan is the most valuable part. It provided
a focus and
structure for ongoing progress- I know I have to keep at
it."
We
[superintendents] have spent a ton of money to buy technology-
we now need to know how to use it.
I
now feel more comfortable accessing and sharing data
with staff.
Seeing
a clearer picture of the total process of PL221: School
Improvement-Staff Development-Teaching in the Digital
Age.
Thinking
outside the box is powerful!
